OVERVIEW
Our Administrator course provides a comprehensive preparation for adults who seek leadership positions within Montessori schools. Montessori schools benefit from leadership that aligns with the Montessori educational approach.
This hybrid course is designed to fit the schedules of full-time educational leaders. The in residence hours will occur during weekend seminars and a two-week summer session. The online work is distributed throughout the 17 months. There is a nine-month practicum during which the student serves in a leadership capacity in a school setting.
CREDIT
Graduates of the MECR Administrator course may need to complete additional coursework in order to be director qualified or prepared for principal licensure in the State of Colorado.
AMS AFFILIATION
MECR is affiliated by the American Montessori Society (AMS). MECR is accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) for all of its Teacher Preparation Courses. MACTE does not accredit our Administrator Course at this time.
MACTE announced in May 2021 that they will begin accrediting Administrator Courses. MECR will be looking into the process as it becomes more defined.
Graduates of our teacher preparation certification courses as well as our Administrator Course receive AMS credentials.
